KELLY Morgan is hoping that her dream world title fight will be confirmed within the next few weeks.

The 36-year-old WBC Silver middleweight champion stretched her perfect record to five wins from five on Friday night with a 59-55 points success over rugged Bulgarian Borislava Goranova.

With that fight now out of the way, Morgan’s manager and trainer Richard Farnan has been back in contact with WBC world super-middleweight champion Nikki Adler’s manager Julia Schutz.

And Morgan told the Advertiser that she was pleased with the reply from Germany.

“On Saturday morning, Rich sent Julia a message to give her an update after my fight,” the 2002 Commonwealth Games javelin bronze medallist said.

“The response we got back was probably the most positive one we have had yet.

“She said that they have been talking to a German promoter who is looking to put on a massive show by the end of the year and they spoke about Nikki and myself.

“She really seems to be focussing on this fight which is great. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks we can get it sorted, but the news we are getting is stronger all the time.

"To be able to be in the ring with Nikki despite having not got into double figures in fights is a big test but I feel ready.

“Physically I feel ready now, it is just about getting the confirmation sorted.”

With Morgan being on the light of side middleweight, the former England netball international was looking to come in for her contest on the 160lb limit leaving her just eight pounds to pack on for a potential bout with Adler.

However, things did not go as planned as she weighed in at 154lb – the limit for division below.

“It was a nightmare. I was hoping to come in at middleweight – 160lbs,” she said.

“But the day before I weighed in a couple of pounds over and I just went too extreme.

“It is a learning curve on my part. I know now that I can eat properly throughout the day – even on same day weigh-ins. It is all about putting on functional weight.

“I don’t think there will be too much of a problem getting to super-middle, it will be hard I know.”
