SWINDON trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick was delighted with the performances of his fighters David Bailey and Harry Webb during Trifecta’s ‘Risky Business’ show at the Oasis Leisure Centre last Saturday.

Webb recorded a win on his professional debut when he went the distance with Zaurs Sadihovs, before claiming the success on points.

Fitzpatrick, who also had Ryan Martin, Luke Watkins and Sam Smith in action at the weekend, admits he was glad to see Webb finally making his debut, which had been due to happen in November of last year.

“He has only had two fights in three years. In the last three or four weeks in the gym he has been on fire mentally,” said Fitzpatrick.

“I thought he did very well out there.

“He looked very composed and he didn’t appear to be someone who was having his first professional fight.

“He did very well and I am very happy for him.”

Fellow Swindon-based boxer Bailey also had an impressive outing as he improved his record to 6-0 with his for win over Adam Gryrokos.

After initially making a hasty start, Fitzpatrick praised the Bristol fighter for his attitude after claiming a first-round stoppage.

“It was his first stoppage. He started off and threw a right-hand too soon so got a bit carried away,” added Fitzpatrick.

“But then David threw a shot which got him out of position.

“That encouraged the guy to throw and then he looked like a lunatic for about a minute.

“He was just throwing shots from all over the place. I could see David’s face in the centre of the storm keeping calm.

“You can only beat what is in front of you.

“One of his strengths is he has a mental toughness and a willing to engage in men who are far bigger than him.

“He has an innate mental toughness and a chin like granite.

“He did exceptionally well. The dude was wild so when David began to find him, he was drilling himself.”
