PENHILL Amateur Boxing Club’s schoolboy fighter James Richards met Connor Greene from Sweet Science Acadamy in an all-action bout in Andover.
The first round saw both boys landing good punches with Greene edging the lead.
The second saw Richards landing straight right hand punches over the top in a closely fought middle section.
In the final round both boys gave their all and Greene got the nod on a points decision.
Coach Simon Knowles said: “When you see one of your boys give 100 per cent, win or lose, it doesn't matter.
“James gave away a full year in age, the maximum you can give and he still gave a great account of himself.”
In other Penhill ABC news, Luvson D'Costa boxes for the Senior Western Counties title in Weymouth on Saturday at 57-60 kg.
His opponent is Adam Bannister from Paignton ABC.
