LECHLADE will have to wait another week to get their first win of the 2013 WEPL Glos/Wilts Division season under their belt, as their game at Stroud was lost to the weather.

The visitors won the toss and invited Stroud to bat in difficult conditions, their decision being advocated when Luke Sellers struck in the first over by shattering the middle stump of Stroud opener Lewis Gegg for just a single.

However, the two sides withdrew to the pavilion in the fifth over - where they remained for the next three hours as standing water built up on the pitch leading to an abandonment just after tea.

Frustrated Lechlade captain Paul Godding said: “It’s been another very disappointing and frustrating day especially as our game was the only one in the division lost to the weather.

“All the boys were very much up for today’s game and eager to put things right from last week and now we have to wait another week to get our season going.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Lechlade’s second-string defeated Marshfield by nine wickets at the Manor Ground.

David Novais took 5-10 and Sam Barnett 3-31 as the home side bowled the visitors out for 88.

Despite Charles Offord being dismissed first ball, Lechlade batsmen Kieran Gandhi with 52 and Max Dawe with 14 quickly knocked off the required runs in 15 overs to secure their first win of the season.
