NATIONWIDE House came back down to earth with a bump following their victory over table-topping Swindon a week previously, as they were thrashed by 156 runs in their WEPL Wiltshire Division clash with Calne on Saturday.

Having won the toss at Beversbrook, Calne opted to bat and shrugged off the loss of Tom Nott for 11 to accelerate quickly through the gears.

Jordan Butler, Sean Adams and Tom Richards all passed 50 as the hosts posted 253-4 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Nationwide just couldn’t get going.

Of the top six only Roger Pettifer managed double figures and when he was out, lbw to Joe Clare, the visitors were 42-6.

Nationwide’s tail held off the inevitable defeat for a while, as Mick Harris top scored from number seven with 21, but they couldn’t push the score above 100 as House were bowled out for 97 in a ball less than 26 overs. Darren Holcombe finished with 4-20 for Calne.
