LECHLADE will not be hitting the panic button after losing their second game of the campaign at Thornbury last weekend.

Joe Breet’s side travel to bottom of the league Chard this weekend and the skipper will be looking for his side to put in a sharper performance.

Despite the two early defeats Lechlade are still in a good position in Premier Two as they sit just 13 points behind pace-setters Taunton.

“I don’t think we should change much,” explained Breet, ahead of their trip to Somerset.

“The way we have started, if somebody had said to me we would have won three of our first five games I would have taken it.

“We are in fourth position and I think it is only 13 points off the top so it is not like we are out of it.

“I think between now and the end of the season we need to be playing a bit smarter than we have done.

“We have been playing good cricket, it is just certain aspects in our game that we need to sharpen up on.”

Despite Chard’s lowly position, having won just one of their opening five games, with one of those being cancelled, Lechlade will not be taking their hosts lightly.

Having played in a team fighting for survival himself, Breet is all too aware of the dangers they might pose.

“We don’t concentrate too heavily on other sides in the league,” he added.

“We do what we need to do ourselves and then try and execute our skills on a Saturday.

“It is hard, I have been in that position myself as well and once you start losing a couple of games to find your next win is difficult.

“Like winning becomes a habit so does losing.

“They’ll be trying desperately hard to get a win, just as much as we will be.”
