PURTON will be looking to build on their opening-day success when they play host to Westbury this weekend.

Aaron Lee’s side saw off Swindon with a 29-run victory on the opening day of the WEPL Wiltshire division and now head home to face the early pace-setters.

Westbury went a point clear at the top with a three-wicket win over Great Bedwyn and Lee is wary of the visitors' bowling attack of Andy Carroll and Alex Senneck.

However, a 63-run at last season’s Wiltshire League runners-up and last Saturday’s win leaves Lee feeling quietly confident.

“We’ve got another tough fixture this weekend against Westbury,” he said. “They won their game last weekend as well, so they are going to be wanting to carry on from that.

“They have got a great seam bowling attack, so that will test the guys early on and it should be a great fixture. We know their strengths and what they are capable of.

“They have an excellent opening seam attack in Senneck and Andy Carroll, so I guess we have got to get through their 20 overs and see what we can do with the rest of them.

“They are a good side and can bat as well but if we are up to the same standards that we were last weekend, then there is no reason why we can’t pick up another win.

“We had a mixed season last year and we went away and beat them quite comfortably away from home, so there is no reason why we can’t do that.

“We have got to be confident and positive going into this weekend because we are doing well.”

Lee will also be hoping that home advantage plays into his side’s favour but is aware that the quality of the wicket at Church End will benefit both sides.

Purton is a good track,” he added. “It has got a lot to offer batsman and bowlers, so good players will get a lot out of the track.

“Ours is quite a good ground to come away and play at because it is a good cricket wicket.

“There are other grounds around the county that we really struggle at because we are so lucky that we have got such a great track and great facilities up there.

“I think it is less of an advantage for us than other teams we go to away but we know how to play on it and we know what to do, so it is always an advantage to be at home.”

Andy Staff’s Swindon side travel to Devizes looking for their first win in the division.
