ROYAL Wootton Bassett strengthened their position at the top of Division One as neighbours Nationwide House did them a huge title favour by beating nearest challengers Bear Flat.

While Bassett romped past Corsham 2nd by 10 wickets, House inflicted a five-wicket defeat on Bath side Bear Flat, who were restricted to 173-7 as Joe Perkins took 4-29.

Nick Clarke (55 not out) and Jon Clarke then took House to their target in the 44th over.

Bassett had few issues as they romped to success at home, bowling Corsham out for 116 as Jack Paish took 4-16.

Tendai Maruma’s unbeaten 87 was the highlight of a flawless run chase, which reached the target in the 25th over.

Division Two

SWINDON United Churches recorded a comfortable 104-run win at Beanacre & Melksham to move out of the relegation places.

The centrepieces of their 230-3 were Matt Runkel’s 80 from 101 balls and 79 from 68 balls from Danny Hunt.

Facing a difficult chase, bottom-of-the-league Beanacre started brightly through Dan Carpenter (nine) and Matt Hunt (21) before losing a couple of wickets.

Pete Hayward bludgeoned his way to an impressive 57, which included 12 boundaries, but Churches turned to leg spinner Deba Saha, who grabbed four wickets for 11 runs to turn the tide.

The Beanacre tail-enders put up stubborn resistance as they eventually succumbed to 126 all out.

Leaders Winsley were beaten by closest rivals Avebury as they failed to chase down 173-9, which was set up by Charlie Redmayne’s 55.

Nick Gerrish hit an unbeaten 53 for Winsley but Rob Gater’s 4-41 saw them fall 19 runs short of their target.

Division Three

COLLINGBOURNE’S Archie Scott (108 not out) and stand-in skipper Owen Sheppard (71) put on 116 in their side’s 286-5 win against Seagry, who lost early wickets in reply.

Angelo Moretti then plundered 90 runs from 10 overs and, with the support of Mike Hunt (45), the pair put on 126 for the fourth wicket before the introduction of Jarrod Price changed everything.

He took two wickets in his third over then the important wicket of Moretti for 79 in his fourth, finishing with five wickets.

Seagry finished on 176-8 from their 45 overs as Price ended with figures of 5-27.

Division Four

CHIPPENHAM 2nd maintained their unbeaten record with a nine-wicket thumping of bottom side Corsham 3rd.

Richard Mockford’s unbeaten 46 anchored Corsham’s 150-9, in which Adam Sullivan took 4-28, but an opening partnership of 141 in 119 balls between Geoff Prudhoe (88*) and Jack Humphreys (56) did more than enough to help Chippenham to victory.

Goatacre remained on their tail in second spot as they inflicted a similar defeat on Spye Park.

Elliot Townsend (46), Michael Duboulay (45) and Pete Ellis (40) helped Park to 239-7, but unbeaten scores of 95 and 75 from Mark Hunt and Tom Cutler, plus Joe Tillyer (55), guided Goatacre to their target.

Division Six

LEADERS Burbage & Easton Royal 3rd had Russ Buck’s unbeaten 91 to thank for their six-wicket victory over Potterne 4th as they reached their target of 191-7.

David Russell struck 139 not out for Potterne.

Fourteen-year-old Jake Small struck 46 not out in vain as Heytesbury & Sutton Veny 2nd came up 17 runs short of their pursuit of Swindon B’s 149 all out.

Division Seven

NICK Patel’s 64 guided Burbage & Easton Royal 2nd to an eight-wicket win over closest rivals Purton 2nd in their meeting.

Purton were dismissed for 124, Jon Street taking four catches in the innings, and Burbage reached their target inside 27 overs.

Division Eight

SAHIL Basandrai scored 88 and Srikanth Raya 39 in Trowbridge A’s 224-9 win against leaders Highworth, for whom Sam Dixon took 4-35.

It proved a winning total as Highworth came up 10 runs shy, despite 65 from Ryan Allen, 62 from Paul Squires and 52 from Mark Wilson.

Division Nine U13 PLAYER Josh Davies excelled on his league debut for Buscot Park 2nd, taking 6-36 to help restrict Wanborough 2nd to 223-8 in their meeting as Edgar De Sousa scored 54.

But the Buscot reply was ended on 96 as Jacob Chilcot took 4-23 to ensure a Wanborough win by 127.
