WHEREVER Swindon have been in the WEPL Glos/Wilts Division so far this season wickets have been tumbling, but skipper Liam Tucker does not want his players to expect the landslide to continue when his side face Stroud at the County Ground tomorrow.

So far this term Tucker’s men have needed only 48 overs combined to bowl both Rockhampton and Marshfield out for a pathetic cumulative aggregate of 140 runs.

Among all that both opening bowlers, George Rigali and Will Nichols, have taken hat-tricks - a remarkable achievement considering the dirth of such feats at the County Ground in the recent past.

But Tucker is wary not to get carried away as Swindon embark on the second of three consecutive home matches.

“What has gone on in the last two weekends has to be put in the past, because this weekend is another game,” he said.

“It has been a great start to the season, and it would be lovely to keep going like that, but we know it’s unlikely.

“We haven’t seen a hat-trick for the best part of 20 years and now we have two in the space of a couple of weeks.

“It’s a great place to be at the moment but we have to keep working hard.”

Stroud come into the meeting still licking their sizeable wounds after feeling the full force of Goatacre’s meaty batting line-up last time out.

Newly-promoted Goatacre smashed Paul Frape’s outfit for 371 in their 50 overs last time out, but Tucker noted how statistics can be misleading. He harked back to the middle of last season when tomorrow’s visitors thoroughly outplayed their hosts in their own back yard, chasing down a paltry 180 with almost 10 overs to spare.

“You can look at the scorecard and say they got put to all parts but they’re not at their own home ground and we don’t know how small the place they’re playing at is,” he said.

“Last year they came to us and they thrashed us and they are capable of beating anyone in this division.

“They have good team spirit and a very much a unit. We have to start again and hopefully our good run will continue.”
