‘STOP Rob Palmer and you’re halfway there.’ A fairly simple equation presents itself to Lechlade as they entertain Great Bedwyn at the Manor Ground in the WEPL Wiltshire Division tomorrow.

Powerful strokemaker Palmer is the Bedwyn linchpin, and has been for some considerable time, frequently topping the side’s scoring charts over the course of the summer months.

And having smashed 124 runs in two innings already this term, including a belligerent 93 in the victory over Marlborough last time out, Lechlade know his prize scalp could be the difference between the sides.

But batsman Max Dawe insists there is more to the tie that the performance of Bedwyn’s star man, as Lechlade look to end their guests’ 100 per cent start to the campaign.

“To some extent you could say that getting him out is halfway to doing the job, but there is more to their side than that,” said Dawe.

“They have other players who can do some damage, and we need to put in a performance that is similar to last week and get another win.

“We had a good performance last week and we need to follow that up.”

Lechlade recall Paul Rowley to the first team after back-to-back half-centuries in the seconds, while Kieran Gandhi makes his first appearance of the term and Adrian Stenner returns to the top of the order.
