COMPTON have all but assured themselves of the Monahans Midweek League Division 1 title after cruising to a 74-run victory over White Horse at the County Ground.

Batting first, the league leaders smashed 157-5 from their 15 overs, with J Baden top scoring with 54. In reply, the White Horse staggered to 83-7.

Elsewhere in the division, Wootton Bassett A continued their recent charge with a nine-wicket win over Nalgo.

Nalgo posted 104-8 in their allotted overs, but Bassett cantered past the target with just one wicket down.

Nationwide fired 141-9 against Stratton thanks in part to Mark Sheppard’s 35. H Painter grabbed 4-32 with the ball for the visitors.

Chasing, Stratton came close, but eventually closed their innings seven runs behind on 134-6, Wollard top scoring with 45 and Russ Arkley claiming 3-30 for Nationwide.

In Division 2, Lydiard Millicent won the top of the table battle with Intel.

Lydiard successfully chased down Intel’s score of 110-3, with R Moulding hitting 40 and I Pathan 45.

Purton A beat Motorola to move into third place. Purton smashed 138-6, with Lee bashing an unbeaten 41. N Kilaru took 3-25 from his four overs.

Motorola could only manage 108 despite Kilaru’s 41.

Sevenfields saw off Haydon Wick, overhauling the 131 they needed for victory thanks to M Farooq’s fine 64. Earlier, G Walter had hit 43 for Haydon.

Upshall and Wilson smashed an opening partnership of 90, Wilson making a dogged half-century, as Wroughton Wranglers 2 posted 136-4 against Swindon United Churches.

United Churches couldn’t find the power to reach the target, as they managed just 103 in reply with A Hunt taking 3-21.

In Division 3, Anchor got their first win of the season against Monahans.

Smith scored 39 as Anchor fired 136 before bowling Monahans all out for 110 with more than two overs remaining.

RWE Npower maintained their perfect record with a defeat of The Dolphin.

RWE notched 126-6 thanks principally to A Ruxton’s 41.

In reply, P Parsons hit an excellent 51 but it was to no avail as Dolphin fell some 23 runs short, Guppy taking 3-12.

Ashbury easily dispatched of Purton B. Having scored 112, Ashbury demolished the Purton batting line-up.

R Minton, who had earlier scored 29 with the bat, then claimed 6-17 with the ball, including a hat-trick, as Purton were routed for 66.

A Jadhav smashed 48 in Gamcom’s 138-7 against Alcatel-Lucent.

Alcatel could only manage 98-8 in reply, as R Tupurani claimed figures of 3-22.

In Division 4, Mannington United beat Swindon Academy by one wicket.
