ADELSTROP have moved closer to retaining the Sweetfuels CDCA Division 1 title after overcoming in-form Sherston Magna by the narrowest of margins.

Cartright (68) was the mainstay of the Sherston innings, helping them set a target of 145 to win after Nick Keen’s early wickets.

Sam Keen (40) and Matt Barnes (29) seemed to have guided the champions into a winning positon but Cartright’s (4-29) burst left the game in the balance.

Last pair Ade Vale and Dan Parker had the last laugh, however, as Sherston just missed out on ending Adelstrop’s 100 per cent record.

Chedworth retained second place with a crushing 120-run win over struggling Andoversford.

Jamie Lait (83 ) made hay as Chedworth rattled up 178-8, with Alec Cerrone (4-29) being the pick of the Adelstrop attack.

The Andoversford reply slumped to 58 all out.
