CHIPPENHAM defender Tyrone Mings is close to a move to Championship side Ipswich Town.
The left-back has impressed for the Southern League side so far this season, and has similarly shone during a trial period in Suffolk.
The 19-year-old began his career alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the Southampton youth team, before moving into non-League with Yate Town and then Chippenham, where he played alongside side Ipswich legend Russell Osman's son, Toby.
Mings played for Town in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Nike Academy on Monday and caught the eye of manager Mick McCarthy.
The 6’3” defender is equally capable of playing as a left-back or at centre-half and is available for selection immediately, once the relevant paperwork has been processed.
