SWINDON Town Ladies are sitting pretty at the top of the FA Women’s Premier League Division One South West following a 3-0 win at Chichester City.

Town took the lead in the 18th minute when Megan Attenborough’s shot from the edge of the area found the net. Michelle Rich then doubled Town’s lead when she drove home a free kick from 30yards out giving the keeper no chance.

Chichester thought that they had pulled a goal back just before the break but it was ruled out for offside.

Midway through the second half the home side were reduced to 10 players when Kally Ambler was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Town took full advantage of the extra player and Beth Thompson bagged Town’s third with six minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, Swindon Spitfires were without a competitive match at the weekend so they faced Newbury Ladies in a friendly.

Spitfires ran out 7-1 winners thanks to an Emma Skinner hat-trick, while there was a brace apiece from Katie Wadey and Suze Berry.

Spitfires return to South West Women’s Football League Premier Division action this week with a trip to Bristol Ladies Union.
