JOHN Fisher sends his Highworth Town side out in search of three points against Ardley United tonight as the Worthians look to stay in touch in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Highworth’s multitude of successful cup runs has seen them slip to seventh in the table, something Fisher is keen to begin addressing when they take on Ardley at the Elms.

“We’ve got a game in the (FA) Vase this weekend and a lot of the teams that are above us have already been knocked out of that, so we could really do with three points,” said the Worthians boss. “We’ve played five games less than some sides, so we could do with a win if we can. But you want to be involved in the cup competitions and it’s just part of it.

“Ardley didn’t have the best start to the season but they’ve had a few good results recently and it’s not going to be an easy game. But I should have a full armoury of players available.”

Fisher’s men head in to tonight’s clash off the back of a 5-0 win at Sydenhams League Downton in the Wiltshire Senior Cup last weekend, which set-up a quarter-final clash with reigning champions Melksham Town.

The Highworth manager said: “I’ve heard of teams having game plans but I’ve never seen one where the plan was to just kick us all over the pitch. It wasn’t just their defenders; it was happening everywhere.

“Even one of the Downton supporters said to me ‘I’m sorry, this is a disgrace’. But we came through it, kept a clean sheet and won the game.

“Melksham or Bradford Town were probably the toughest draws we could have had, but at least we’ll be at home.”

Wiltshire Senior Cup quarter-final draw: Laverstock & Ford v Corsham Town, Wootton Bassett Town v Bradford Town, Highworth Town v Melksham Town, Warminster Town v Amesbury Town.

  •  SWINDON Supermarine have signed former Chippenham Town duo Jake Simpson and Corey King.

Midfielder Simpson, who is the son of former Swindon Town man Fitzroy, and pacy winger King, who scored four goals for Chippenham last term, both join Dave Webb’s side from Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central outfit Marlow.

Marine’s postponed trip to Cinderford Town has been rearranged for Tuesday, December 2 whilst Saturday’s clash with Sholing, which was shelved due to their involvement in the FA Trophy, has been given a new date of December 16.
