CHISELDON ensured the battle for the Division Four title remained a two-horse race when they came from behind to triumph 5-2 at PSG Amateurs.

DPR remain 10 points clear at the top following a 1-0 success over DBS but Chiseldon have four games in hand on their rivals.

The two sides are set to go head-to-head on Sunday week and Chisledon boss Andy Hamilton-Gill reckons that game will determine who will be celebrating come the end of the season.

“That’s the big one in a few weeks time. I think it will come down to that game and that one will decide the title,” said Hamilton-Gill.

“I’m not worried that we’ve got a few more games to play because I’m confident we can beat everyone else.”

Chiseldon’s title credentials were pushed to the limit against PSG, as although they got themselves ahead early on, Hamilton-Gill’s side found themselves 2-1 in arrears at the break.

But the visitors rallied after the restart and it was all one-way traffic from there until the final whistle, with Chiseldon notching four more goals without reply.

Player-manager Hamilton-Gill led the charge with a brace, Tom Davis scored a penalty and Joe Hiscock and Jamie Harris also found the net.

“We started well but had a bad half-hour and went in 2-1 down at half-time,” added Hamilton-Gill, whose side were beaten 4-3 by DPR in their last game three weeks ago.

“We had a few words with the lads and sent them out fired up for the second half and scored four goals without reply to get the win.

“I think the last game may have had a factor a bit but the lads bounced back well. We are delighted because they came out in the second half and played like they have done all season.

“We had a few players missing, probably because of Mother’s Day, I think. We had a bit of a makeshift team but we were able to sort ourselves out and find a way to win.”

Elsewhere in the division, third-placed Penhill Moonrakers thrashed Smart Movers 6-0 and Stratton Saints were 2-0 winners at Old Town United.

There was just one game in Division One, with third-in-the-table SKS Blyskawica edging a 4-3 thriller against second-placed New Century WMC.

In Division Two, AFC Moonrakers were 6-2 winners at Wanborough and Penhill United went one better as they beat West Swindon Wanderers 6-1.

AFC Tap & Barrel took another step towards the Division Three title when they edged past Eldene 2-1. Rodbourne Real had been the best placed of the chasing pack but they lost 2-0 at home to G Power Solutions, while Tawny Owl saw off Rudis 4-3.

A solitary goal was enough for Division Five leaders Marlborough Town Casuals to down Cricklade MTA.

Second-placed AFC Freshbrook beat Coleshill Youth 2-1, that scoreline was matched by AFC Greendown against Bounce Squad, and PSV Swindon eased to a 4-1 success at Gorsehill Borough.

Division Six leaders FC Abbey Meads were 1-0 winners over Croft Junior but Willowgreen Hotspur remain hot on their heels after beating Rosier Rovers 5-3.

There was just one draw throughout the league and that saw the game between Save on Tyres Athletic and County Ground finish 1-1.
