STEVE Robertson expects Swindon Town Ladies to face the stiffest challenge to their perfect record in FA Women’s Premier League Division One South West on Sunday.

Swindon have won all five of their fixtures so far but travel to take on last season’s runners-up Exeter City this weekend - a team who they took just one point off in 2014-15.

If they are to overcome their bogey side, then Robertson’s troops will have to do so with severely-depleted ranks as four players are unavailable this weekend.

Laura Morgan has not recovered from the injury that forced her off in last week’s 4-1 win at Southampton Saints, while Meg Vella, Sam Quinn and Michelle Rich all have other commitments.

Although Exeter have not quite recaptured the form that saw them only miss out on the title on goal difference last season – with two wins and two defeats from their four league games so far – Robertson is expecting a tight encounter.

“This week could be the toughest test we’ve had so far,” said Robertson.

“We lost one and drew one against them last year, so we know they are a top side.

“We’ve got a few people missing too.

“It’s not ideal but you can’t stop people going away. Now we will find out how good our squad is.

“We’ve started well and now it’s time for the rest of the girls to step up. We have the people to cope with it and I have got every confidence in the girls who are coming in and know they give absolutely everything.

“It’s an opportunity for them to make the shirt their own, then the girls who are away will have to try to get it back off them.”

Robertson is over the moon with how impressive Swindon have been so far this term and has urged his team to keep that up and maintain the pressure on fellow unbeaten side Keynsham Town.

“I can’t complain with the start we’ve made at all,” added Robertson.

“Everyone has been going really well and if there has to be a time when you are going to have a few people missing, then it’d be on the back of five wins when confidence is sky high.

“We haven’t played the best teams in the league yet but the girls can only beat what is put in front of them.

“It’s important we try to keep the pressure on Keynsham and keep them chasing us.”

Swindon Spitfires host Gloucester City tomorrow (2pm) at The Elms, Highworth.
