SWINDON Supermarine boss Dave Webb is looking to keep hold of two of his young assets as he prepares his side to face Slimbridge at home.

Southern League outfit Frome Town have made a seven-day approach for defender Luke Matthews, while fellow Evo-Stik Southern Division One South & West outfit Winchester City have made a move for former Southampton Academy forward Oli Bailey.

Both players are free to talk to the clubs after tonight’s game at the Webb’s Wood, but Webb is hopeful he can keep hold of his two young stars.

“I have spoken to the players and they have not spoken to the clubs involved, they are available to do that after tomorrow’s game,” said Webb.

“I am hopeful that both players will stay with us; they are both good young players who hopefully enjoy their football at Supermarine.

“Having spoken to both players, I am confident they will stay with us.

“I think both players realise what we are trying to achieve this season and where we are going and they are enjoying their football with us.”

Meanwhile, Webb is preparing for a home meeting with third-from-bottom Slimbridge and he knows that it is a must win for them with the carrot of going top dangling for his players.

“It is not going to be an easy game,” added Webb.

“We have to try and dominate from the start and hopefully control proceedings and not let them back into the game.

“We’re at home so it is vital that we look to try and get another three points.

“We desperately need to get those points and, who knows, that might take us top of the league.

“If we are going to achieve anything we need to keep winning matches and if we can get to the top of the league then that is great.

“Given the enforced break that we have got it is really important that we get a maximum three points.”
