SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb believes the Division One South & West League title is there for the taking ahead of their trip to Slimbridge tomorrow.

A run of 13 games without tasting defeat has seen Supermarine lift to third place in the division, four points behind leaders Cinderford Town having played a game more.

With seven points now separating them and North Leigh outside the play-off spots in sixth spot, Webb is concentrating more on what is above them rather than what is behind.

Last weekend’s win over Marlow was their third on the bounce and Webb says that there is a sureness streaming through his side at the moment.

“I think the way we are playing and the confidence in the group is there to see,” he said.

“We play Slimbridge next who came to us and beat us earlier in the season so they are more than capable.

“They’re a difficult side to beat, especially at home, so we are going to have to be at our very best again to continue the run to 14 games.

“There is no reason why we can’t keep this run going. We’re confident we can win every game and if we’re not at our best, if we can take a point and stay unbeaten for as long as possible then great.

“There is a bit of a gap in the play-offs and we just have to make sure we look after our own results and not worry about other people.

“Every team that is in the top five at the minute believes they can win it and we think we can go close and Cinderford are there to be shot at.

“We’re going to do our upmost to catch them.”

This weekend’s hosts are one of only five sides to inflict defeat on Supermarine this season with a 2-1 win back in September.

However, despite the Swans having won their last two league games, Webb is hoping that his side will have too much for them this time out.

“I just think we weren’t quite on it on the day,” he added.

“There were a couple of situations earlier in the season where we lost at home to Bishops Cleeve and Slimbridge and teams came and set up to frustrate us.

“To be fair to those two sides, they have improved. Slimbridge have come into the league from the Western League and they are doing their utmost to survive in the league and are doing extremely well.

“It will be an extremely tough game and we’re in a different place now and the group is much stronger.”
