SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb admits his side need to come away with a win this weekend as they prepare to travel to Bideford.

Webb’s Marine go into the game after a disappointing 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Winchester City last Saturday.

Despite the poor run of form, which has seen them lose three of their last four games, manager Webb is relishing the test for both him and his side.

Marine’s last victory came at the end of October when they put five past home side Bridgewater Town.

“We need to get the next win. Bideford away will be extremely tough because they are a good side, a strong side, a Southern Premier side last year and they kept all of their players,” said Webb.

“All we can do is go there and try and do our best and we need to try and reinstall that confidence in the team to get back to winning ways and that was my challenge this week.

“For me, it is about the players actually believing in their own ability and getting back to what we do well. It’s a test for me as a manager.”

Webb has also highlighted the importance of form as his side heads into a hectic month which will see them play a total of eight games. “We have always been there or thereabouts in terms of challenging for the play-offs so when you get a few bad results, it challenges you,’’ he added.

“November is tough, we have a lot of games, I think this past week is our only one where we haven’t got a game mid-week game in November.

“They come thick and fast. October and November are tough months, there is always a lot of football in those months in our league.”

The Webbswood Stadium boss also believes there is no point in judging where his team are at the moment as it is too early to take stock of their play-off challenge.

“We’re still reasonably placed. If we can go to Bideford on Saturday and get a positive result, we will still be in the thick of it.

“You have to look where you are at come Christmas for me. That is the next real milestone.

“If you can get to Christmas and you are in the top seven or eight, then you are well placed and that is where we have got to try and be.”

Supermarine currently sit in sixth place in the Division One South and West League table.
