AFC GAS came out on top of a thrilling Division One encounter away at Penhill United as Mark Tring’s side claimed a 5-4 win.

Goals from Scott Chilcott, Daniel Reynolds and a hat-trick from Lee Smith secured all three points for Gas in a hectic game and manager Tring was keen to praise the character shown by his side.

“We started really well. To go 2-0 up was pleasing but they then scored two to get back into the game,” said Tring.

“They had all of the momentum and we showed good character to keep going, it was a hectic game.

“We kept battling and working hard. We were a few players down too, so the players stepped up to win the game.

“We are happy with the three points but it was just one of those games."

Despite the win, Tring believes his side are still a work in progress.

“There is still plenty to improve on. We have a great team spirit around the club at the moment and our will to win won us that game,” added the Gas manager.

“It’s not good to concede four goals but we always know we have the ability to score goals. We have a great squad who can score and a great team spirit this season.”
