SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb is expecting a backlash from Mangotsfield United after they suffered a heavy defeat last weekend.

Saturday’s opponents currently sit one position above Marine in fourth in Southern League Division One South & West, with two games in hand over Webb’s side.

Supermarine will go into the game in high spirits after claiming a 6-1 win in the Wiltshire Senior Cup over Downton on Tuesday night.

However, Webb is fully aware of the threat posed by David Mehew’s Mangotsfield ahead of their trip to Gloucestershire.

“It was a bad upset for them last week because they lost 4-0 at home to Taunton, who are a good side,” said Webb.

“They (Mangotsfield) are up in the play-off spots. They’re two points ahead of us and they have two games in hand so it’s a big game for us.

“If we can go there and win the game, we can go ahead of them, which will be nice going into the Christmas period.

“We are under no illusions of how difficult the game will be, they’ve got some very good players there.

“David has put a good, experienced side together and they’ve had a great start to the season, I’m sure the setback will make them determined to put it right.”

Webb will have the luxury of a full squad to choose from, although defender Macauley Dodson is a slight doubt.

Since his return from suspension, Josh Parsons has scored four times in his last two games, including a hat-trick in Tuesday’s win.

Marine manager Webb was quick to praise his in-form forward and the impact he has had since returning to the fold.

“Our form has picked up a bit, which is pleasing. The players deserve a lot of credit for getting us into this position,” added Webb.

“Josh Parsons has come back into the team and scored four goals in two games, so he is back on form. We are looking a threat again going forward.

“The goals did dry up for us during our dry spell of form but we have started scoring again now, which is pleasing.

“We are going to go there to try to win the game. It will be tough but if we are at our best, we are more than capable.”
