STRATTON Football Club have hailed their annual youth football tournament a success as over 10 teams competed.

The club is one of the largest youth football clubs in the county, with 20 teams ageing from an U6 side all the way up to the seniors.

As part of the annual Stratton Festival, the club were handed free access to the 3G pitch in order to host the event.

The tournament had two main disciplines, an U16s Ability Counts competition, which is for children with physical or learning disabilities, plus an Under 11s tournament, which is their largest section.

The U11s tournament was the biggest as there were 10 teams playing from Stratton Juniors, Lydiard Millicent and Purton.

Lydiard ran out as eventual winners when they overcame one of the Stratton Junior sides.

From noon, attention then turned to the Ability Counts tournament, which had five teams playing from MK Dons, Allsorts Rodborough, JBFC and Stratton Juniors.

MK Dons finished top of the pile in the tournament that was sponsored by George Scarrot & Sons funfairs, who donated £150 to go towards medals for all those who took part and the winner’s trophy.

To finish the day, the club ran an open session for any children who wanted to take part in a crossbar challenge, target practice and a match, which had around 30 children playing.
