ELDENE boss Craig Parson says his side are on the right track after beating Stratton Saints 5-1.

The win means Eldene, who are the only side to remain unbeaten in Division Two, kept up the pressure on leaders Royal Wootton Bassett Town, who recorded a 4-1 win at the expense of Athletico Marlborough, thanks to goals from Connor Dunn, Dan Broadbank, Joey Broadbank and Callum Dunn.

Parson’s troops are now one point behind the pacesetters with two games in hand.

“I’m disappointed not to keep a clean sheet. We haven’t really got back into it since Christmas which is encouraging because we are still winning games,” he said.

“I’d say we dominated the first 20 minutes and had should have been about 4-0 if it wasn’t for poor finishing.

“They had a goal disallowed due to a player who was inactive becoming active by running towards the ball, which they weren’t very happy (about).

“It’s crucial to keep up the momentum and keep winning regardless of the extra games we have, everyone knows Bassett are the team to beat with the amount of decent Saturday players they have.

“Even though we beat them at our place they are definitely everyone’s shout to win the league along with Highworth.

“I’m confident in our ability and team spirit but we need to stay focused, our problem is against the teams were expected to beat.

“We go into games maybe a little bit complacent at times. Hence the result against Save on Tyres who gave us a really good game.

“We 100 per cent have another couple of gears to get up through yet and I’m hoping for a league and cup double but you never know in football things can change in a split second as we all know.”

Croft Junior failed to make the most of home comforts as they were beaten 4-0 by the visiting Nationwide.

Hosts Swindon Athletic had a much lower scoring affair with Purton Redhouse, as the latter snatched a slender 1-0 win.

There was only one fixture in Division Three this week, between PSV Swindon and Gorsehill Borough, with Gorsehill coming out on top with a 4-3 win.

In the top tier, AFC Gas were 4-1 winners over Jovial Monk.
