SUPERMARINE caretaker boss Gary Horgan insists he and his players are desperate for a win, despite admitting their season is effectively over.

Marine sit comfortably in midtable in the Southern Premier but have tasted victory just once in their last 10 games, a stat the camp is keen to redress against relegation-threatened Didcot tomorrow, who are managed by ex-Marine man Ady Williams.

“We didn’t have so much to play for ourselves as we’re not fighting for promotion or against relegation, but we’ll certainly be going flat out for the win,” said Horgan.

“We’ve played a lot of the top sides recently and barring the game at Truro they have been fairly tight. It would be a nice time to get a win on the board.

“Didcot have picked up of late which has coincided with Ady Williams going in, and it will be a very difficult game for us.”

Marine welcome back centre-half Dave Bampton from suspension tomorrow but Mitch Bryant is banned. Goalkeeper Will Puddy is still sidelined and Ashan Holgate is struggling with a knee injury.

Meanwhile, Chippenham defender Steve Casey insists that his side won’t let their season fizzle out, despite their play-off hopes being all but extinguished.

The Bluebirds are seven points off the top five with four games remaining, leaving them a mammoth task to reach the play-offs ahead of tomorrow’s clash with visiting Truro.

But Casey said: “We’ve got a winning mentality in the team and I don’t think anyone’s going to let it be the typical end of season that just peters out.”

Elsewhere, 14th-placed Cirencester host the side just one spot above them in the league table, Hemel Hempstead.
