LOUISE Hunt made it three titles in two tournaments as she enjoyed success at the inaugural Sheffield Wheelchair Tennis Tournament.

The Wanborough wheelchair tennis ace, who kicked off 2013 by winning the doubles at the Biel-Bienne Indoors in Switzerland, continued her fine form in South Yorkshire.

With a bye in the quarter-finals, the British number three and top seed made short work of Caroline Wareing in the semis at the Graves Tennis Centre, thrashing her opponent 6-0, 6-1.

Hunt then faced world junior number one Lauren Jones in the final of the ITF Futures Series event and was relentless in her play from start to finish.

The 21-year-old overwhelmed her Sussex-based opponent 6-1, 6-2, meaning she only dropped four games across her two singles matches.

The finalists joined forced in the doubles and lived up to their top seed billing with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Debbie Brazier and Wareing.

Hunt was delighted to continue her positive start to the year and praised tournament organisers for their efforts.

“It was nice to get a singles win early in the year, I enjoyed it,” said Hunt.

“There are still lots of things to improve on, but I played well.

“It was a really good tournament and the organisers did an absolutely brilliant job in running it.

“There weren’t many women there which was a shame, but I think the tournament could definitely be upgraded in the future.

“The first time a tournament is run it can be quite shaky, but this one was perfect.”

Hunt is next in competitive action in just over five weeks when she plays in the Open International Fundacion Emilio Sanchez Vicario in Spain, an ITF 3 Series event.

“I’ve got some big tournaments coming up,” she continued.

“The events I’ve won so far this year aren’t going to help my world ranking, but they are good for confidence.

“I’m not too worried about my ranking at the moment, I’m hoping I can make it up later in the year.”
