REPRESENTATIVES of six different clubs took on seven local sailors at a solo open meeting hosted by Bowmoor Sailing Club over the weekend.
Ross Harvey from Bowmoor vied with Guy Lonsdale from South Cerney SC for the lead early in the first race, but Harvey eventually pulled away to take first place, with Lonsdale followed over the line by local sailor Richard Gibbon of Bowmoor SC.
A similar pattern ensued in the second race but with Roger Battersby, from Sutton Bingham SC, coming through into third place.
With the event safely won, Harvey demonstrated his superiority by establishing another secure lead in the final race. This time another local sailor, David Lyle, pulled through to achieve a second place holding off Lonsdale who finished third.
Results: 1, Ross Harvey (4674), Bowmoor SC; 2, Guy Lonsdale (4512), South Cerney SC; 3, David Lyle (5139), Bowmoor SC; 4, Roger Battersby (4986), Sutton Bingham SC; 5, Richard Gibbon (5038), Bowmoor SC.
