LOUISE Hunt declared herself proud of reaching the mixed doubles final despite ultimately falling short of the title with partner David Phillipson at the British Wheelchair Tennis Open.
Hunt and Phillipson’s historic match against fellow Brits Marc McCarroll and Jordanne Whiley was disrupted before a game had started – with the changing weather forcing the first-ever Super Series mixed doubles final indoors.
Whiley and McCarroll started strongly and powered to a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory, leaving Hunt to reflect on the pair’s run to the final – which included victory over second seeds Alfie Hewett and Lucy Shuker in the semi-final.
“Moving indoors was tough, it changed the game a lot,” she said.
“Overall I really enjoyed it – we fought against the odds to get to the final and I’m really proud of our efforts in pulling it off.
“To beat Alfie and Lucy is really encouraging and a good sign of what we can achieve.”
