Emily McBride from Abbey Meads gained her Netball Beginners Umpire Awards in style.

She is now qualified to umpire the third division of the Swindon District Netball Association (SDNA) League.

McBride gained the award at the top end of the required criteria and all this only a month after completing the Beginners Umpire Course.

Next step is the Netball Umpire C Award for which there are high hopes McBride will succeed at achieving that soon.

On top of this achievement she then took player of the match accolade at the Abbey Meads A team match against Corsham in a well fought contest with scores remaining even until the end of the third quarter.

The fast-paced attack of Nicola Young, Christina Davidson, Sam Thompson and Emma Dodson kept the pressure on Corsham going into the fourth quarter and the defence of Emily McBride, Shaunie Tuck, Cathy Gerrish and Sue Rolfe kept fighting until the end but Corsham managed to move ahead and take the win 44 - 37.

Beth Sawyer who umpires for Abbey Meads also gained her Netball Beginners Award. She will also be moving onto working towards her Netball Umpire C Award.
