WILTSHIRE LTA honoured clubs and players at their Annual County Tennis Awards Ceremony.

The awards were presented by the Wiltshire LTA president Sir Geoffrey Owen.

Ema Lazic was crowned Player of the Year. The Next Generation Swindon player has had a fantastic 12 months, representing Great Britain in the IC Junior Challenge Worldwide Finals 2014 at Wimbledon.

The 15-year-old has also enjoyed success in the ITF junior circuit with wins and runner-up places in Malta, Luxembourg, Portugal, France, Cyprus and Spain and her ranking has risen from 617 to 168.

Lazic has a LTA rating of 3.1 and has represented the county at junior and senior level Next Generation were also celebrating in the Most Improved Player of the Year category as Sophie Clark was crowned after increasing her rating from 5.2 to 4.1 and has achieved a national ranking of 20 at 14U.

Clark has represented the county at 14s, 18s and Ladies County Cup in 2014.

The Wiltshire Ladies side were crowned the Team of the Year. Captained by Becky Prince from Swindon, they have gained promotions two years in a row at Winter County Cup and last season played in Group 4 and narrowly missed out on promotion to Group 3.

Calne were named Club of the Year having worked tremendously hard over the last three years actively fundraising for their move to their new home at Beversbrook.

The Outstanding Contribution to Tennis in Wiltshire gong was scooped by Chippenham’s Tony Clark for his dedicated work at the club for the past 16 years.

The Volunteer of the Year award was won by husband and wife team John and Sue Kirkman from Malmesbury.
