SWINDON'S Anna Mayes' stint as national head coach has come to an end after the former Lawn player and England Netball parted company this morning.

Mayes, appointed in December 2011, has been replaced by Tracey Neville who will lead the squad in an interim capacity at the Netball World Cup this summer.

Mayes was appointed full-time England coach after guiding the national side to the World Netball Series title in 2011, having been in charge on an interim basis.

She began her netball career playing for Swindon-based Lawn Netball Club before representing Hucclecote and Team Bath and later Wales.

She was named assistant England coach in 2010 before taking sole charge, guiding England to the semi finals of last year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where they missed out on bronze following defeat to Jamaica.

An England Netball statement said: "The organisation would like to place on record its’ thanks to Anna for her hard work in progressing the national side and wish her well for the future.

England Netball CEO Joanna Adams added: “I would like to thank Anna for her time in charge of the England squad.”
