SWINDON Junior Flames got the better of Ash as they edged to a 6-5 success in a pulsating encounter.

The first period began with Swindon in penalty trouble but a fine display of goalkeeping by Jade Kenealy kept the score level.

Shortly after returning to four skaters Flames took the lead with a tap in by Liam Coleman after a scramble around the Ash net.

Swindon doubled their advantage when Tristan Ward finished a Coleman pass, and Ward and Coleman grabbed further goals before the end of the first period.

Ash pressed after the restart and Flames conceded inside two minutes.

The two sides then exchanged goals at regular intervals, with Coleman getting both Swindon goals as they led 6-3.

Ash then upped the tempo and two quick goals gave Swindon a scare but they held on for victory.

Swindon earlier faced games against Oxford and Chippy Trixters.

Coleman (2), Ward and Dylan Bonner were all on target against Oxford but Flames were beaten 10-4.

There was much better news against Chippy Trixters, with goals from Ward, Coleman, Bonner, Charlie Browning, Ashton Webb, Richard Wilson, Edward Quant and Dylan Jackson helping them out 14-1 winners.

Swindon Flames train at the Link Centre on Saturdays, with Peewees from 10am-11am, Youths between 11am-12pm and Juniors from 12pm-1pm. New players are welcome.
