THE first round of the BiSHA SW senior skater hockey league at Dorcan Leisure Centre saw the Cardiff Panthers emerge in front as a bad day for the local Swindon Flames Seniors saw them with just one win from their opening 3 games.
Oxford Blues took the lead in the opening game against the Cardiff Panthers through Vicky Coombs, but the Panthers scored 17 goals without response with former Swindon player Will Crowder leading the way with five to win the match.
Swindon were outscored in the second game by the Sprint Raiders as they fell to a 5-3 but bounced back in their second game to beat Oxford16-5, with Ben Moody and Craig Davies registering four apiece and Luke Barrington scoring a hat-trick.
Cardiff comfortably saw off the Sprint Raiders 9-3 before beating the Flames 12-8 but they did not have things all their own way.
The Flames started brightly and edged into a 3-0 goal lead before the panthers came back to tie the first period 4-4.
The Panthers moved 9-8 in front at the second break before they managed to shut-up shop in the final period and 3 goals without reply saw them home.
The final game of the day saw the Sprint Raiders record a comfortable13-3 win over the Oxford Blues with Mike Gibbons and Roy Allen both netting hat-tricks.
