LOUISE Hunt is bidding for back-to-back singles titles this week when she competes at the Czech Open.

Wanborough’s British number three is at career best rankings in singles and doubles after the biggest singles win of her career in the final of last week’s Polish Open.

Germany’s world number eight Katharina Kruger was the first world top 10 ranked opponent that Hunt has beaten - a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory to land her 13th career singles title and earning her a place in the world’s top 15 single rankings.

“I’m absolutely over the moon, it’s been a really memorable couple of weeks after the Great Britain bronze medal at the World Team Cup, beating my first world top 10 player and now reaching the top 15 for the first time,” said Hunt, who also finished runner-up in the doubles in Poland.

“I left the World Team Cup in Turkey with a real buzz and went to Poland with a few of the other GB players and one of our Tennis Foundation coaches and that whole coaching and support continuity really helped.

“I’m full of confidence now for the Czech Open after beating Katharina and I hope I can keep it going.

“We’re at the start of the qualification window for Rio 2016 and to have put myself in the position I’m now in is a real confidence boost.”

After starting the Polish Open as fourth seed for the women’s singles, Hunt is third seed for this week’s Czech Open in Prostejov and is drawn to meet Kruger again in the semi-finals, should both players progress that far.

Meanwhile, after being on opposite sides of the net again in last week’s women’s doubles final in Poland, she and Kruger team up for doubles this week to renew an already successful partnership.

“After reaching the final of the Doubles Masters last November we looked at our respective calendars for 2015 so that we could play in as many doubles draws as possible this year,” added Hunt.

“It wasn’t possible in Poland for various reasons, but I’m really excited to play with Katharina again In the Czech Republic.

“We know each other really well and play well together, so hopefully we can get another title under our belts.”
