SWINDON team Handy Motorsport narrowly missed out on their third outright top 15 finish in the British Touring Cars Championship of the season at the Rockingham circuit, on driver Robb Holland’s final weekend with the outfit.

Rounds 22, 23 and 24 of the campaign marked the American’s final outing - with team principal Simon Belcher preparing to make his return to race action later this month at Silverstone.

Holland secured 24th spot on the grid in the Toyota Avensis after qualifying and was briefly inside the top 15 in the opening race before finishing 17th.

Beginning round 23 from 22nd position, Holland got away well but, struggling with grip as the race progressed, finishing in the same position.

His final race with the Wiltshire team didn’t deliver the grandstand finish as he retired on lap four.

“It’s a real shame we couldn’t sign off with a good race three for Robb, but it’s been great working with him the last three events and everyone at Handy Motorsport wishes him well for whatever he does next,’’ said Belcher.

“I obviously can’t wait to be back in the car at Silverstone in a few weeks, it’s been good focusing on the management side but now I’m ready to be back behind the wheel.”

Silverstone, the penultimate event of the 2015 season, is on the weekend September 26-27.
