SWINDON put in a five-star performance in Conference North when they defeated Hereford 5-0.

The hosts took the lead when Henry Cheney smashed home a short corner.

The second half saw Swindon step up a gear and put the visitors to the sword with goals from Tom Goldsmith, Jim Towers, Lewis Dyer and Chris Parsons putting the game beyond doubt on Saturday.

The day after, Swindon were beaten 3-2 by Firebrands A.

The hosts took the lead through a Cheney short corner before the Bristol-based side levelled matters.

Swindon retook the lead before half time after Goldsmith scored from the baseline.

However, the second half started poorly for Swindon and it was 2-2 within three minutes.

The hosts saw a number of good chances go begging in the second period and they were punished by Firebrands in the final five minutes as they snatched a late winner.

Swindon Ladies 2nd faced Wessex Division One leaders West Wilts in a rearranged match and despite battling bravely they fell to a 7-0 loss.

From the off Swindon were under a lot of pressure but an early goal by Wilts didn’t faze them. Some brilliant defending at the back by Issy Harding, Lou Siddorn, Helen Niblock and Karen Silvester meant that although dominant, Wilts had a limited number of shots.

Paige Warman made some brilliant saves whenever the ball did get through but they trailed 2-0 at the break.

Swindon’s best chance came in the second half as Gemma Court and Angela Cooke went close.

Despite another five goals coming through out the half Swindon battled hard with Kim Taylor and Emma Brown constantly putting pressure on the Wilts defence when they had the ball.
