ELLIOT Pinson enjoyed another fine weekend in the Team Green Junior Cup, despite problems with his bike.

The youngster headed to Silverstone leading the championship but issues with his bike meant he had to start at the back of the 35-strong grid in two out of the four races.

However, Pinson showed his mettle and came back strong in an exciting battle with Luke Hopkins, where both of the riders broke the existing lap record, with the youngster setting a new lap record and eventually taking the win.

Pinson was awarded the Junior Rider of the Day prize for the second time this season, with the prize fund being generously provided by Kawasaki UK.

Despite a final-race victory, Pisnson lost his lead in the championship and slipped to second place, three points behind Charlie Farrer.

But the 12-year-old top spot in the championship standings after round three at Snetteron.

Taking pole position in qualifying and a third-placed finish in the opening race, Pinson then claimed victory in race two by just 0.298 seconds after a thrilling battle with Hopkins.

The Swindon youngster then won the first race of day 24 hours later before finishing fourth after a close battle in race two.

Those results saw Pinson secure enough points to regain his lead in the championship, with Oulton Park up next on June 17-18.
