SWINDON Shock are looking to take another step towards the National League play-off final as they welcome Wolverhampton University to New College this afternoon (2pm).

David Colclough’s side reached the quarter-finals for the first time seven days ago when they dispatched Barking Abbey Crusaders in a 61-55 home win.

That set up another home tie for Shock, against Wolverhampton, who saw off National League Division Four South East side London Thunder in their opening play-off fixture.

The two sides crossed paths last year, with both teams claiming a win apiece.

While Shock did register a home victory, Colclough doesn’t read too much into the result ahead of this knockout clash.

“We played them last year and we beat them comfortably at home. But I remember we travelled to them with six players and suffered,” said Colclough.

“We ended up losing in the last second by three points. We missed a game winning lay-up with a few seconds left to play.

“It was a close game. I’ve looked at their players and they look familiar but you never know if they have recruited somebody else this year.

“They seem a lot stronger if you look at the rankings and things like that but I think we have some familiarity with them.”

Colclough is also looking to make the most of home advantage at New College as he aims to guide his side to the next week’s semi-final.

“We are going to stay here all week. Work at home and play at home. Wake up in our beds, drive over to the gym and play,” added the Shock chief.

“It’s a normal routine for us whereas they are going to have to wake up early and drive from Wolverhampton.

“They will also need to deal with traffic and all of that stuff before they warm-up and try to play which will be harder for them.”

There are doubts over the fitness of Matt North and Dominik Sajovic as the former is struggling with illness, while the latter dislocated a finger in last weekend’s home win.
