LOCAL players missed out on a county title in the four Wiltshire women’s finals that they contested at Box on Monday.

The finals were totally dominated by the host club who took the honours in all five events - a Wiltshire ladies record in modern times.

The host club’s trio of county president Jean Collier, Janet Hardie and Alex Jacobs all won two events.

Hardie beating Purton’s Alison Fail in the four wood singles final and Jacobs seeing off Highworth’s Linda Kingston in the two wood singles.

In the pairs the Westlecot duo of Geraldine Reade and Mary Dyer lost to Karen Funnell and Collier, while Westlecot also lost in the triples.

All of the finalists will represent Wiltshire in the national women’s championships that start on Saturday at Royal Leamington Spa and run for a fortnight.
