AS SOMEONE who grew up hundreds of miles away from Wiltshire, James Noble is well placed to comment on the pull of Foxhill motocross circuit.

The 27-year-old, who will compete in the MX1 class of the British Championship at the venue on Sunday, used to make the 540-mile round trip from Whitby, North Yorkshire, with his family when the Grands Prix were staged there in the early to mid-90s.

Noble explained: “It was over two days on the Saturday and the Sunday, and we used to travel down on the Thursday night and get here early Friday morning, camp, have a bit of a fun day and then watch the racing.

“This place is pretty special for motocross riders, it’s definitely the one we all look forward to coming to. Foxhill is pretty much the best you can get.

“When the Grands Prix were here back in their heyday in the 90s, a lot of people used to come from abroad because they had heard about the track and how good it was for viewing and how good the racing was.”

Top-level racing returned to Foxhill last year for the first time since 2000 - the hiatus caused by the circuit falling into disrepair after several years of poor weather conditions.
