SWINDON Cycle Speedway Club host the 2009 South West Gold Cup this weekend.
The top teams in the region compete in the unique, six-team tournament, five riders in each contesting 30 heats at the track behind the Oasis Centre. Admission is free, with refreshments available.
Teams from Poole, Horspath (Oxford), Eastbourne (Hellingly), East Newport and Southampton will take on the host club, which was relaunched this year after several seasons struggling to track a full eight-man line-up.
Hot favourites Horspath include Mark Carmichael, the South West Junior champion, while Southampton track current British and South West champion Gavin Wheeler
