OUR Dream Queen, trained by Barry Hills at Lambourn and ridden by his jockey son Michael made turf history in the week winning the first-ever flat race at Ffos Las.

The new Welsh circuit staged its first meeting over the jumps a few weeks ago and it was the turn of the flat racing fraternity to enjoy the Welsh hospitality in midweek.

One of the leading gift experience operators, ActivitySuperstore.com, has put together a unique raceday experience for racing enthusiasts combining a day’s racing at the new Ffos Las racecourse for their August 28 National Hunt Meeting, with a private tour beforehand to local trainer Alison Thorpe. As a bonus the day also sees the official opening of the course by Sir Peter O’Sullivan, with Cerys Matthews performing live after the racing.

This is one of a programme of racedays put together each year by Wiltshire based Sporting Horse Promotion on behalf of Activity Superstore and available on line and through major retail outlets including Boots and WH Smith.

The days are hosted by a racing expert who will also provide betting advice and tips as a part of a unique insight into the sport.

“The Activity Superstore Discover Horseracing days have been running since 2000 and over the years we have probably encouraged over 2,500 armchair viewers and newcomers to come racing.

“Both the BHA and many trainers have supported us over the years and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them,” explained Becci Berry of Sporting Horse Promotions.
