SWINDON Harriers were well-represented at the latest round of the Oxford Mail Cross-country League, held at Horspath.

Thirty-eight runners competed in the various age categories over a tough, hilly woodland course.

Caitlin Carney, Hannah King, Ellie Zimmer and Bethany Brewer all finished in the middle of a competitive under 11 girls race.

Will Crisp led the way in the under 11 boys race, registering his first league win in a Harriers vest. Crisp’s victory followed good performances in previous rounds where he finished third twice and the youngster now lies equal second in the overall standings.

There were also good runs from Nathan Huynh, Marcus Raymond and Daine Ackers.

Charlie George claimed second place in the under 13 girls race to move to second overall, whilst Samantha Reeves finished a creditable 18th in her first race for the Harriers.

In the under 13 boys race Callum Bampton claimed a season-best third spot, leaving him fourth overall and giving him a good chance of securing a top-three overall finish.

The under 15/17 girls race saw the second Harrier winner of the day as Lillie Bellamy strode home for her first race victory of the season.

Bellamy now occupies joint-top spot in the chase for the overall title.

Bellamy was followed home by Emma Piatek (eighth) and Carla Huynh (17th) in a strong team performance, which left Harriers second overall in the under 15/17 girls team standings.

Georgia Akerman, Beth George and Laura Rothwell performed well, all finishing in the top 30.

The boys under 15/17 race was dominated by Nyle Clinton, who claimed his second win of the season by a substantial 41 seconds – the biggest margin of the day. Clinton opened a comfortable lead at the top of the overall standings with his superb display.

Joe Grant (14th) and Matt Raymond (19th) brought the Harriers team home for a result that moves them to the top of the overall team rankings.

The senior ladies were represented by Julie Goulding, Pauline Morgan and Shelley Johnson, who all registered finishes in the top half of a competitive field.

The senior men were led home by Heath Bampton in an impressive ninth place. Bampton now tops the overall Veteran 40 rankings. Other finishers for Harriers included Dan Pidgeon (20th), Simon Green (38th), Mark Bellamy (43rd), Martin Townsend (61st), Luke Byrne (71st) and Steve Goulding (80th).
