SIMON Plummer was crowned Wiltshire 10k champion after a second-placed finish in the TBAS 10k at Castle Combe recently.

The Salisbury ARC runner made the early running, but was soon overtaken by Bristol and West AC’s Phil Wylie, who broke away after two kilometres to surge to a winning time of 31.39.

Plummer came in 90 seconds behind Wylie, but took the county plaudits as the first Wiltshire runner to cross the line.

Michael Towler of Avon Valley Runners was the next Wiltshire man home, in fourth overall, while fifth-placed Gary O’Brien from Swindon Harriers was third in the county.

David Vaudin of Team Bath AC claimed the county V50 title and Tony Royle of Avon Valley Runners the V60 title.

In the ladies’ race, Rachel Bown of Avon Valley Runners took the Wiltshire ladies title after finishing in fourth place overall, with Molly Wawrzyniak of the USA claiming the race win.

Bown also claimed the county V40 title, with Wendy Hemmens of Warminster Running Club claiming the county V50 title and Karel Royle of Avon Valley Runners the V60 title.
