SWINDON-BORN Hannah Miley finished seventh in the final of the 400m individual medley in Shanghai this afternoon.
The 21-year-old was up against a severely tough field and never troubled the leaders, recording a time of 2:11.36.
Chinese sensation Shiwen Ye, 15, won the event in 2:08.90, seeing off Commonwealth champion Alicia Coutts and world record holder Ariana Kukors in an extremely tight finish.
Miley will begin her campaign in her favoured event, the 400m individual medley, in the early hours of Sunday morning (BST), with the final to follow later that day.
