STAR Swindon golfer David Howell was on hand to present the prizes at the competition named in his honour at Broome Manor last weekend.

Andy Flatt recorded the best score of the day during the David Howell Classic with a gross 76 (nett 66) to take home the top honour from the two-time Ryder Cup player.

The day was a huge success with more than 220 players competing in all, 76 of which were juniors.

Broome Manor professional Lee Hayward said: “It was an amazing day and great to see Howler mingle around with the players.

“He especially loved the buzz around the junior section commenting on how much fun it is and how big the section has grown since he was a junior.

“This is always a special day for the golf club and we all really appreciate Howler’s efforts in making an appearance and sponsoring the prizes.”

James White took home the prize for the top junior after posting a gross 87 (nett 67), while Olivia Bannon was the girls winner with gross 99 (nett 78) The Tigers winner was Jack Mawyer with 43, while Summer Carash posted a score of 25 to win the Cubs class.
