SWINDON boxer Jamie Cox must see off seasoned campaigner Manoochi Salari to set up his dream British title shot.

Cox takes on the 35-year-old Nottingham boxer on October 30 at Liverpool Echo Arena, in what is the Swindonian’s biggest fight of his career.

Victory over Salari, who has won four of his 16 fights and held the Midlands Area light-middleweight title, could set up a mouth-watering clash with current British champion Kell Brook.

Brook defends his title against Michael Jennings on the same bill as Cox, and his promoter Frank Warren has promised the Swindon southpaw he can take on the winner.

Welterweight Cox will also step up to light-middleweight for the clash against Salari, which will be held over eight rounds.

“I can’t wait to bring the title back to Swindon,” said Cox. “If I win this fight then I get to fight for the title in December. I cannot wait. Manoochi is an experienced, rugged boxer and will try to get in close and cause me problems but I will just try to pace myself, stay out of trouble and wait for my chance.”

Tickets for Cox’s fight on Saturday, October 30 are available now priced £40. Contact Belinda on 01793 709755 or 07825329539.
