SWINDON were unable to hold on to their half-time lead as they returned home from Firebrands A with a 1-1 draw in Conference North.

Swindon dominated the majority of the game, limiting the hosts to a handful of opportunities on the break.

Thomas Hunt was imperious in the middle of the defence, alongside Lewis Dyer, with Alan Gough largely a spectator.

Despite creating numerous half chances, Swindon failed to convert until about mid-way through the first period.

A short corner was initially saved, but retrieved by Jim Towers. He dinked the ball into Phil Scarisbrick, who deflected on to Thomas Lentschner.

Showing great composure with his back to goal, Lentschner rolled onto his reverse and passed the ball beyond the keeper to give Swindon the lead.

Half-time came and went, and Swindon continued to dominate, without converting.

The ball through midfield started to slow and gradually the home team began to sneak back into the fixture.

A long corner for Firebrands was unfortunately upgraded to a short corner as a result of a misunderstanding.

The opportunity was taken by Firebrands, who’s poor short corner routine caught out goalkeeper Gough, who was wrong footed, and the hosts were level early on in the second half.

Swindon battled on for the remainder of the game, however they were unable to capitalise on their superior play.
