FLOYD Taylor has been named skipper of Great Britain Under 18s for the upcoming World Championship (Division 2A) in Estonia.

The Swindon Wildcats forward is one of a 32-man squad announced today that will face the hosts, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania and Romania in Tallinn from March 30-April 6.

The 17-year-old is the second Wildcats man to be called up for national service in three days after Link Centre skipper Aaron Nell was selected for the preliminary senior squad for Sochi 2014 qualifying on Wednesday.

Taylor was an assistant captain in last year's World Championship campaign but has now been handed the main skipper role.

GB coach Mark Beggs said of the Wildcats starlet: “He is a fierce competitor who is very focused and will lead by example on the ice.

“He had an outstanding tournament last year and will be expected to do more.

“I’ve known and coached Floyd for some time and he thrives in this type of environment and gets instant respect from his teammates.”

Great Britain will undertake a training camp in Sheffield from February 28-March 1 with a game against Sheffield penned in for February 28.

A second training camp will go ahead at Dumfries from March 21-22 with a match against Solway taking place on March 21.

The World Championships will begin eight days after the second camp finishes.
