WILDCATS net-minder Stevie Lyle has had a premonition, he is predicting Swindon will face Peterborough Phantoms in the play-offs.

Swindon head to Basingstoke Bison this evening before they travel to Guildford Flames tomorrow night with the post-season firmly in the thoughts of the players.

Swindon have just six games left and Lyle believes if the results go to form then they will face two games against Peterborough to earn a place in the finals weekend at Coventry.

“The way it looks right now, and if the teams beat the teams they are supposed to, it looks like we will most probably be playing Peterborough,” said the veteran stopper.

“That is my gut feeling right now and Basingstoke will be playing Manchester.

“Peterborough has been weird. They have come to our building twice and totally hammered us but then we have played there three times and have won the last two against them so I think that will be a good series.

“I am sure in the next week or two we will have a better idea of who we are going to play in the play-offs.

“It is good to see that Swindon are in the mix and rightly so I think.”

A win for the Wildcats today would put them just a point behind Basingstoke in third place with a game in hand.

A top four finish would guarantee Swindon a home fixture for the second leg of the play-offs but Lyle is not concerned about which way the games come.

“It comes down to six periods of hockey,” he added.

“You always do like to start at home but then on the other side if we did finish top four and have the home game on the Sunday then at least you are coming back to your own building knowing what you need to do.

“We seem to always play well against Basingstoke and they are always good games “No games are easy games but I think looking into the weekend we’d like to think we can pick up the points on the Saturday before heading into Sunday.

“Guildford play well in their own building and this year, more than any other team, they are the side who have had our number the most.

“I think we have lost the most games to them than anyone else, and that includes Telford.

“It is tough but hopefully we will be coming off a win on Saturday.”
